It’s RED Friday!
Well, that’s really what it should be called, isn’t it. Many people go into the “red” on spending for the holidays. We go from being grateful and having a wonderful family dinner one day to acting like maniacs and fighting for things just to get a bargain the next day. How quickly we forget the bounties bestowed upon us, and how quickly we’re so willing to fight for material things.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m all in favor of getting a good bargain and saving money. We just don’t need to be hostile about it. Every year we hear stories and see videos about people pushing, shoving, and being rude while shopping. The marketing experts really tapped into our caveman-era primitive brain sites. We revert back to the Darwinian survival of the fittest. We proudly display and brag about the spoils of victory in the shopping wars.
Remember to sprinkle your shopping excursions with a bit of the Thanksgiving spirit. That way you can have the best of both. Gratitude is always a good thing.
Maybe we should call it Black and Blue Friday for all the bruises we get shopping during the holiday season. So, before you cinch up your suit of armor, sharpen your sword, and pick up your shield, remember- A good bargain is not a reason to be rude and disrespectful.
Now, get the hell out of my way. I want one of those items before they’re all sold out!!
