YELL’N SHOUT

Every year hundreds of thousands of people around the world are struck by the Comfort Zone Virus. What? You mean you’ve never heard of it? That’s because it is so stealthy, so invisible, it usually goes undetected until it’s almost too late. I’d be willing to bet that probably more than fifty percent of the adults you know have already been infected.
So, what is this virus? What are the symptoms? What should you do if you’ve become infected? Is there a vaccine available. These are important questions to be answered. Let’s get right at it.
The virus is born of years of minimal emotional height. Your efforts don’t grow. You don’t get excited about much. You live in your comfort zone because you’ve attained minimal emotional height. Your life is, well - MEH. You aren’t stimulated by much. A life of MEH is like never tasting any ice cream flavor other than plain vanilla. You go through the world like a zombie.
The most common symptom is that you keep thinking that where you are in life is good enough, and you make no effort to change anything about it. The problem with this virus is that it’s contagious and gets passed on from generation to generation. Kids will believe that they are fine just putting in minimal effort into whatever they do.
In order to do anything about the virus you have to know that you’ve been infected. Once you have been able to identify the virus, you need to start setting higher goals for yourself. There is only one vaccine that can stop the spread of this sinister, achievement-killing virus. That vaccine is believing in yourself, believing that you can do better and then having and executing a plan.
None of this is meant to say not to be grateful for what you have. I’m grateful for everything I have. I just believe everyone is happier when they maximize their potential. Do you want a life of MEH, or do you want a life that you smile knowing you took it to it’s maximum potential. Think carefully about this next statement.
Nothing great was ever achieved by remaining in your comfort zone.
At the end of my days, I want to slide in sideways, jeans and tee shirt ripped up, arms and face scraped, and with a giant smile declare THAT WAS ONE HELLUVA RIDE!!
Tikkun Olam- heal the world. Leave it a better place when you leave.
